Indonesian National Orchestra

Hello,

Last Friday, Indonesian National Orchestra performed at Llwelyn Hall, ANU. The orchestra consists of a huge range of percussion, string, plucked and wind instruments from all over Indonesia. There are parts of gamelan, sasando, sitar, rebana, kolintang, rebab, ketipung, seruling, kendang, and many others. The majority of the instruments are made of natural materials, including bamboo, lontar (leaves of a fan palm) and timber. The orchestra was lead by Mr. Franki Raden. I think it is very difficult to combine many kinds of traditional musical instruments into a musical harmony.
