Indonesian Festival

Hello,

We went to the Indonesian Embassy on 8 Darwin Avenue Yarralumla, Canberra, to celebrate the Indonesian Festival last Sunday.

There were hundreds of spectators, from babies to grandpas and grandmas, enjoyed Indonesian food; musical and dance performances; and fashion show.
These are Tante Ruri and her baby.

This is Asha with her butterfly face painting.

These are Om Sa'at, Tante Medri and Tante Sheila.

Hey, that's me and my little friends. We sang Dari Sabang sampai Merauke, Head shoulders knees and toes, Naik kereta api and Balonku ada lima. That's for the first time I had a chore as an MC. I was so nervous at that time, that I almost forgot the title of the songs that we were going to sing.

This is a choir from ANU. They sang Pak ketipak ketipung, Waltzing Matilda, Tanah Air and Ekspresi.

This is a vocal group from the University of Canberra. They sang Sajojo, Apuse, Sik Sik Sibatumanikam and Cucak rowo.

This is an Australian musician. He wrote and sang his own songs.

This is the Indonesian ambassador for Australia and Vanuatu, Mr. Primo Alui Joelianto. He sang some Indonesian old songs. Well, my mom likes Lilin-lilin kecil that he sang, but not other songs.

These are Pak Gede and his friends.

These are Om Nugi and his friends. Om Nugi is on the drum, Tante Miranti is on the keyboard.

This is Golek dance from Central Java. They danced beautifully! I like it.

This is Ngarojeng dance from Betawi.

This is the fashion show. Look at those beautiful ladies. They are amazing!

After the show, the models danced with the spectators. Selayang Pandang.

I really enjoyed the food and the performances. I love Indonesia!
